Auburn comes out on top of GW

David Goode had himself a game against Auburn.

The GW standout knocked down three of the Maroons’ five three-pointers en route to scoring 21 points on the night.

Unfortunately for Goode and the GW faithful, Nick Millirons saw Goode’s game and raised him.

The senior Eagle came in clutch for Auburn, scoring 30 points and icing four from deep, leading Auburn to a four overtime victory 54-52.

George Wythe trailed by two points after the first frame, and would remain down by two through the break. In the third, GW cut the lead down to one and by the final frame had knotted things at 48 all.

In a low-scoring set of extra time, each team scored a bucket in the first OT and the second OT. No one scored in the third, and Auburn scored one to GW’s zero in the final extra frame.

The GW girls didn’t have quite as rough a go in their matchup against Fort Chiswell.

Makaylan Luttrell led the Lady Maroon scoring with 17 points on the night, leading George Wythe to a 53-40 win over the Lady Pioneers.

The Fort’s Blair Jackson led the scoring overall with 21 points on the board.
