The Lady Canes came up just shy despite a strong start facing Richlands’ Blue Tornado.
After grabbing a 10-point lead in the first quarter, Marion saw the advantage dissolve in a 19-11 final frame, losing 60-57.
Ella Moss still managed a marquee game, scoring half of Marion’s points with 31. Moss also notched a double-double, hauling down 11 rebounds.
Marion’s boys outscored Richlands 21-14 in the first quarter and 23-16 in the second, but the highlight for Hurricane fans came in the third, when Marion tore open a 30-13 run, cruising to an 84-57 Southwest District win.
Jack Ford paced Marion with 24 points on the night.
