Coaches pick E&H women’s tennis eighth

The Emory & Henry College women’s tennis team has been voted to finish eighth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this year by the league’s head coaches, ODAC officials announced Thursday.

While Emory & Henry welcomes back seven of its nine players from last year and brings in a pair of freshmen, the Wasps will be without a senior class for the second year in a row. The experience gained this season will undoubtedly make a large difference in the program’s success in the future.

Washington and Lee University is the favorite to win its 30th league crown with 11 of 12 first-place votes. Sweet Briar College is second with the final top nod while University of Lynchburg and Virginia Wesleyan University are tied for third. Randolph-Macon College sits in fifth.

Emory & Henry has a 13-match schedule set for this spring including 10 ODAC contests. The Wasps will open the season on Tuesday, March 9 with a home match against Johnson University. E&H’s first league contest will be against Washington and Lee University on Saturday, March 13.
