Coding camp set for June 26-30

Wythe County Public Schools will host an “SWVA Can Code Camp” for rising sixth- through eighth-graders from June 26 to 30.

The camp will run daily from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Wythe County Technology Center. Bus transportation and lunch will be provided.

Students will learn how to program using Apple’s SWIFT Playgrounds programming language as well as other tools to help them design, develop, and prototype their web application. Camp staff will guide and support students through each phase of learning and development. The last day of the camp will feature a “pitchfest” where students will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The top three projects will be invited to move to the regional Pitchfest & Showcase to be held on Aug. 1 at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise.
