Counts Pharmacy opens doors in Wytheville

It’s a new name, but one that’s familiar to Wythe County residents.

Counts Pharmacy – no relation to the original Main Street Counts family – has recently joined the Wythe County community.

Ervin Counts comes to the community with decades of not only pharmacy experience but also experience as an independent pharmacist.

Counts has owned an operated as an independent pharmacy since 1992, starting out in Davenport. Since 2003, he has owned and operated Jones & Counts in Haysi.

Counts attended VCU Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Joining him in this venture, for his first experience working full time as an independent pharmacist is Counts’ son, Zack, who attended the Bill Gatton School of Pharmacy in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Zack Counts comes to the independent world with experience at CVS, Kroger and Food City pharmacies.

Counts says that he and his son are here to serve the Wytheville community, offering a friendly, hometown atmosphere that he says has been missing since Counts Drug closed a couple years ago.

“When you walk into our store you will be treated a newly remodeled interior that is just beautiful,” he said.  “You will be greeted by our friendly staff or pharmacist.  Everyone can expect to receive the same quality treatment without discrimination.”

Counts says the future of pharmacy is in transition but remains hopeful for the future.

“If the right things happen then the ship can be righted and patients can always count on their local pharmacies to be available.”
