A 68-year-old Independence man died in a Friday crash on state Route 21 in Wythe County.
Virginia State Police said troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:07 p.m. a half mile south of C.C. Camp Road on Route 21.
They found that a 1998 Nissan Frontier had been driving north when it crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 2010 Chevrolet Impala heading south.
The driver of the Nissan, Larry H. Woods, 68, of Independence died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Whitney A. Cheeks, 30, of Rural Retreat was transported for treatment of minor injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, Jessica L. Mimm, 37, was transported for treatment of minor injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
