The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three location across the county.
DEA and its partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. For more than a decade, this event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unused, unneeded, or expired medications that too often become a gateway to addiction. Drug Take-Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at more than 4,000 local drop-off locations nationwide with three of those locations being in Washington County.
Locations for this year’s Drug Take-Back Day will be at the Abingdon Food City, the Sam’s Club in Bristol and Glade Pharmacy in Glade Spring.
In partnership with local law enforcement, Drug Take-Back Day has removed more than 8,300 tons of medication from circulation since its beginning. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.
