Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Draws With Tusculum

The Emory & Henry College Women’s Soccer Team (2-5-4, 0-4-2 SAC) ran out to a two-goal lead in the second half, but eventually had to settle for a 3-3 draw against Tusculum University (2-7-2, 2-5-1 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play Wednesday evening. 

The Wasps were first on the board in the 11th minute as junior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) found the back of the net on a laser beam shot from outside the penalty box for her third goal of the season to make it 1-0. Tusculum responded three minutes later on a goal from Brynn Stokes assisted by Joey Garrett to level the score at 1-1. E&H continued to create chances as they fired a total of eight shots and earned five corner kicks in the opening half, but the score held at 1-1 heading into the halftime break.

– E&H tallied another goal in the 62nd minute to jump ahead when junior midfielder Lucy Dunlop (York, ENGLAND) laid in a perfect corner kick that found the head of junior midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) and beat the Pioneers’ keeper to make it 2-1 in favor of the visitors from Emory. The Wasps added another goal in the 86th minute off the boot of freshman forward Madie Beale (Virginia Beach, Va.) to balloon the lead out to 3-1, but Tusculum answered immediately once more just 39 seconds later when Adriana Netskos scored unassisted to draw back within one at 3-2. The Pioneers completed the comeback in the 90th minute on a goal from Alexis Roessler and the two squads had to share the draw.
