Farmer PRIDE-to-Table dinner on tap

Appalachian Sustainable Development will hold its inaugural Farmer PRIDE-to-Table dinner on Monday, May 22, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. inside the Kingsport Farmers Market, 308 Clinchfield Street, Kingsport. All proceeds benefit Appalachian Sustainable Development’s LGTBQ+ Farmer Coalition.

Tickets are $60 per person: https://events.humanitix.com/farmer-pride-to-table-dinner. Space is limited and no tickets will be sold at the door. Live music will be performed by Tyler Hughes: https://www.facebook.com/TylerHughesBanjo/. The event Title Sponsor is Hard Rock Hotel and Casino of Bristol who has shown their dedication to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in the region through their support of the Appalachian LGBTQ+ community in agriculture.

Up to 60 guests will experience the best of local cuisine when they enjoy a sit-down, multi-course meal highlighting local farmers, growers and food producers, prepared by the team at Bloom in Bristol, Virginia. Upon arrival, guests will enjoy mingling and networking over local crusty breads, cheeses and pickled appetizers. The first course is Spring Heirloom Tomato Salad featuring heirloom tomato varieties, ramp pesto, Noble Tennessee, goat cheese and pistachio. Guests can choose from one of two main courses: either Stuffed Pork Belly that is rolled, herbed and roasted with fennel root mustard sauce, kilt greens and heirloom johnny cake or a vegetarian option that is a Ramp Pesto Bucatini featuring local mozzarella, fresh herbs and slow roasted tomatoes. Dessert will be Strawberry Shortcake with whipped cream and sweet, local strawberries. 70% of all ingredients will be sourced from local/regional farmers, food producers and supporters of the LGTBQ+ community. Substitutions may apply.

A spokesperson from Bloom comments, “We are excited to partner with the ASD Farmer PRIDE Coalition in recognizing all the great LGBTQ+ people working on Appalachia’s farms and in kitchens. From our very first day, Bloom has been proud to accept and welcome everyone who walks through our doors. We will continue to provide a safe space and an accepting environment for all in our community and in greater Appalachia.”
