George Wythe didn’t let an inning pass without scoring at least twice, en route to a Mountain Empire win over visiting Bland County.
The Maroons piled up 17 runs off 10 hits in the Tuesday game, sending Bland back through the tunnel with a 17-7 loss.
The Bears managed nine hits, plating five runs in the fifth and final inning.
Jasmine Faulkner and Allison Coble led the GW charge, knocking in two RBIs each. Makenna Gilman and Lydia Sprano also had strong showing at the plate.
Gilman spun four innings and some change for the Maroons, striking out four Bears. Jordan Connoy pitched the bottom three quarters of the final inning, fanning three batters.
