Langley earns way to national stage

The Emory & Henry College Women’s Wrestling Team got the postseason started at the NCWWC Southeast Region Championships on Saturday. King University served as the host for this year’s meet. As a team, the Wasps finished sixth out of nine competing schools and saw six of their seven wrestlers place sixth or better on the day.

By virtue of her regional runner-up finish at 155 pounds, senior Andreia Langley of Chilhowie qualified for the NCWWC National Championships next month in Iowa.

Langley got the day started with a win over Jordan Wilson from Ferrum College in 2:11. She made her way to the championship bout, defeating Limestone’s Amalani Latu by a 5-3 decision. Langley finished the tournament as the regional runner-up falling to No. 6 Tiffany Baublitz of King in the championship bout (1:48).
