Live shows re-open Millwald

The Millwald Theatre will open its doors for live music events in December 2022, following nearly 18 months of renovation.

Scott Fore, Wayne Henderson, and Pam Tillis will be among the first performers in the venue.

The inaugural public show, Scott Fore with Wayne Henderson & Friends, will showcase Appalachian musicians on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m.

Fore is an internationally recognized flatpicking champion. Henderson is a world-renowned luthier for clients such as Eric Clapton and Doc Watson in addition to being an accomplished guitarist.

Country music star Pam Tillis takes the stage on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. as part of her “Belles and Bows: Country Hits & Christmas Favorites” tour. Tillis is a three-time Country Music Awards winner and has won two Grammy awards.

“Paying tribute to Appalachian music is the perfect choice for our first live event. The talents of these artists have paved the way for so many local and regional musicians, it would almost be a shame if we didn’t open with that,” said Millwald Executive Director Jeff Potts. “Pam Tillis brings incredible credentials, and hosting her for a Christmas show is ideal. Patrons will love the atmosphere of the theater during the holidays.”

Mark Bloomfield, chairman of the Millwald Theatre Board of Directors, concurs.

“It’s almost surreal to have these acts slated to perform onstage. This is the culmination of five years of planning and hard work from a dedicated group of people, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to share this project with the community,” Bloomfield said.

Tickets for Scott Fore with Wayne Henderson & Friends will be available Friday, Oct. 28, at noon on the Millwald’s website at www.themillwald.org. Tickets for Pam Tillis will go on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
