Marion packs fall with fun, family friendly events

America’s Coolest Hometown has the calendar packed for the rest of the year with exciting family-friendly events that are free to attend!

–          First Fridays  Every month throughout downtown Marion.  Businesses and eateries offer special shopping hours, sales, and featured menu items.

–          Marion Farmers Market, Saturdays 8 til noon through October.  Special Thanksgiving and Christmas Markets too!

–          “Song of the Mountains”, The Official Television Series of Virginia, live at the historic Lincoln Theatre, first Saturday of every month.

–          Second Saturday ArtWalk at the Appalachian Spirit Gallery next to Town Hall.  Live music, local arts and crafts.

–          Third Annual JEEP Invasion, Saturday, September 10, 11-4 at Riverbend Park.  Live music from The Honey Badgers

–          36th annual Marion Downtown Chili Championship, Saturday, October 8, noon-10pm.  Chili cookoff, community vendors, food trucks.  Live music with The Swizzle Sticks, Davidson’s “Blue Moon” Band, and “The Soul Men” Blues Brothers Tribute.

–          “Scarecrow Lane”, October 19-29. Community competition as teams build creative scarecrows and invite the public to vote for their favorite. 

–          Saturday, October 29 “Halloween Madness” Trunk or Treat on Broad Street and at participating businesses throughout town.11-1.

–          “Merry Marion Hometown Christmas Weekend”, December 1-4.  Downtown Open House, Grand Christmas Parade, Christmas Markets at the Farmers Market and General Francis Marion Hotel, special extended shopping and dining hours.
