Marion students receive service academy nominations

Several students from across the region received U.S. Service Academy nominations from U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith.

“Each year I have the honor to nominate a limited number of young men and women to United States Service Academies. These outstanding students represent the best of Southwest Virginia, and they deserve our thanks for their willingness to serve our country. I am proud to nominate them and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Two Marion students were among those receiving nominations. Katelyn Collett was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy along with Margaret Anne Ridlehuber of Tazewell, Reed Jone of Abingdon, Io Neo of Bluefield and Nicholas Zolovick of Blacksburg.

Faith Myers was nominated to West Point along with Ridlehuber, Neo and Jones.

Ridlehuber and Neo were also nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy, along with Carianne Kinder of Bluefield, McKenley Dales of Cedar Bluff and Rebecca Collins of Abingdon.
