Men’s track and field slated for 11th place finish in SAC

The Emory & Henry College Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Team has been picked to finish 11th in the South Atlantic Conference this year by the league’s head coaches. The poll was released by the SAC office on Tuesday.

E&H will compete in its second year as a member of the South Atlantic Conference during the 2024 season as it continues the transition from Division III to Division II. 

Wingate University, the defending SAC Champion, is picked to win the league with 11 of 13 first-place votes. Lenoir-Rhyne University is second, receiving the other two first-place votes, while Tusculum University is third.

Additionally, the SAC has announced its Athletes to Watch List with sophomore Tyrique Taylor (Christiansburg, Va.) along with freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) making the list for E&H. 

Emory & Henry will get the outdoor season started on Friday at Elon University’s Phoenix Invitational. The Wasps will also compete at the Concord Invitational (Apr. 12), WildCat Invitational (Apr. 20) and Cole Piper Open (Apr. 27) during the regular season. The SAC Championships will take place on Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2 at Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Irwin Belk Track.
