Millwald offering spring classes

Space is limited for the Millwald’s Beginner’s Luck series.

The theatre, teamed with the Wythe-Bland Foundation, aims to help people who want to learn something new with a series of Wednesday night classes from April 12 to May 3.

Sessions will include songwriting, clogging, painting and mobile photography.

On Wednesday, April 12, Chase Altizer will lead a songwriter course designed for adults and teens. The class will include an introduction to the music theory of songwriting, a look into song structure and how to tap into the creative mindset. The class has a limit of 15 people. A $5 refundable deposit is required to hold the spot.

On Wednesday, April 19, Clogging with the Appalachian Hoe-Downers, led by Missy Eversole, runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Eversole will teach an introduction to clogging. No prior dance experience is needed. Space is limited to 30 people, and a $5 refundable is required to hold the spot.

Local artist Jen Otey of Rose Cottage School of Art will guide a class on watercolor painting from 6 to 7 p.m. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited to 25 people. A $5 deposit is required to hold a spot.

On Wednesday, May 3, from 6 to 7 p.m., Brady Parks will lead a class on phone photography. Turn your smart phone snapshots into beautiful portraits and memories using tips and tricks anyone can master. Those taking the class will take a photo safari through the theatre to put the skills to work. Space is limited to 30 people, and a $5 refundable deposit is required.
