Farmers in Southwest Virginia could get a shot this month, during a second round of funding from the Central Appalachian Family Farm Fund.

The fund awarded 19 farmers a total of $9,500 in July.

Appalachian Sustainable Development has secured $14,000 from the Appalachia Funders Network, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to award 28 $500 grants during December. The mini grants aim to offset some of the impacts of the pandemic.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Dec. 14. Checks will be mailed to farmers within 30 days. Apply at https://forms.gle/.

Farmers from Bland, Grayson, Smyth and Wythe counties, among others are eligible.
