Missing Atkins girl found in Georgia

A missing Atkins juvenile was found safe in Georgia and the adult male believed to have abducted her is in custody, facing grand larceny and numerous other charges in that state.

Smyth County Sheriff Chip Shuler said his deputies responded to a call about the missing juvenile on Saturday, discovering that the 14-year-old girl could be with an acquaintance, 28-year-old Michael Anthony Buchanan of Marion.

Shuler said that Buchanan is also accused of stealing a computer from a friend he was staying with.

The Virginia State Police issued a nationwide Amber Alert. The alert said that the girl was believed to be in extreme danger.

Shuler said the abduction in Smyth is still under investigation.
