Q&A with a young racer

You might say that racing is in Joshua Bentley’s blood. Following in his father’s footsteps, the 5-year-old Wythe County driver recently completed his first race at Fayetteville, North Carolina. Following are some of his thoughts about his latest adventure.

Why did I first choose to race? 

I wanted to be like my daddy

What do you most enjoy about racing?

I enjoy going fast and the tires.

What are your long term goals in racing?

I would love to drive a super late model on dirt.

What event/s do you really like to watch?

I watch a lot of Lucas oil late model races and you tube.

Who is your favorite diver?

My dad and Daulton Wilson

Do you like dirt track or hardtop?

Dirt track

How did it feel on your first race in Fayetteville?

I did good I passed some cars and didn’t spin out.

Were you nervous for your first race?

I was nervous but it went away once I started

Wytheville

What Grade are you in?

Pre-k

What is another sport your like?

I like tee ball and basketball

My dad races, my paw paw used to and so did my uncle Kenny
