Queens U. takes out E&H

The Queens University of Charlotte Women’s Basketball Team (1-0) saw four players reach double figures in scoring as it picked up a 78-69 win over Emory & Henry College (1-1) in a matchup of future South Atlantic Conference foes Sunday.E&H got out to a 7-2 lead at the 7:08 mark of the first period but Queens scored 10 of the next 12 to take a 12-9 advantage. The Wasps bounced back with a 7-3 run to lead, 16-15, through 10 minutes of play.
In the second, the Royals got back ahead, 24-20 and after trading runs with the Wasps, carried a 35-31 margin into the break.
Returning to action in the third quarter, Queens extended its lead to 43-33 with an 8-2 run before Emory & Henry answered to make it a two-possession game, 47-41, with 3:06 on the clock. The Royals went ahead by 12 but four in a row by the Wasps to close the period made it 55-47 with one to go.
E&H close the gap to six twice early in the final frame but Queens always had an answer and stayed just out of reach for the 69-78 win.
