Ring moves to 5-0 in professional mixed martial arts ranks

ROBBIE RING

Wytheville mixed martial arts fighter Robbie Ring went to Nashville with a 4-0 record in his professional career and came home carrying a 5-0 record.

Ring, 22, bested Jacob Kilburn, a 27-year-old fighter with UFC experience.

In the hours before the fight, Spectation Sports, which offers betting on mixed martial arts fights, had Ring as a plus-155 pick, saying the Wytheville 22-year-old “has plenty of potential … and … all the tools to make it to the UFC one day.”

The betting line noted that the five-year senior Kilburn had more experience, but that Ring “is the better fighter at this point in time.”

Ring proved that in the Nashville cage, submitting Kilburn in the second round with a darce choke, earning a performance of the night honor in the process.
