Roses officially returns to Wytheville

An old favorite has returned to Wytheville. The Roses Department Store, located at 800 E. Main St. in Wytheville had its ribbon-cutting ceremony June 2, to officially mark their grand opening.

Representatives from the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce, Joint IDA, Wythe County, Carter Bank and Trust, Wytheville Community College, the Town of Wytheville, and employees were on hand to join in the celebration.

Earlier, the Wytheville Rose’s Department store had a record-breaking sales for both the opening day and opening weekend for the company.

“It is all thanks to the community. Everyone has been so supportive of us returning to Wytheville” stated Terry Bralley, assistant store manager.

Steve Bailey, Store Manager shared “It is great to be here. We have been amazed at the support and we want to support this community as well.”

Kevin Kerns, district manager, also mentioned “Rose’s had three other locations with grand openings on June 2 – Montgomery, Alabama; Jessup, Georgia; and Shreveport, Louisiana.

“The re-emergence of this well-known department store chain can be attributed to American consumers increasingly shopping at discount stores.”

“On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, we are pleased to have Rose’s back in the area and wish them much success”, added Chairman Dr. Dean Sprinkle.
