Saltville student nominated for all military academies

U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith issued the following statement announcing the names of his nominees to the United States Service Academies:

“Each year I have the honor to nominate a limited number of young men and women to United States Service Academies. These outstanding students deserve our thanks for their willingness to serve our country. I am proud to nominate them and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Ninth District nominees include Sydney Nicole Taylor, a Patrick Henry High School student from Saltville who was nominated for the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Naval Academy.

Canon Jake Adkins of John S. Battle High School was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.

Clara Faith Harding of Hidden Valley High School was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.

Gavin Isaac Littrell of Richlands High School was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Delaney Lyn McLaughlin of Cave Spring High School was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.

Morgan Elizabeth Tipton of Gate City High School and New Mexico Military Institute was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Samuel Joseph Reilly of Blacksburg High School was nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Military Academy.

David Worthington Brooks III, a home schooled student from Bristol, was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy.

Tanner Glenn Long of Auburn High School and The Citadel was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy.
