A Smyth County man was killed and others were injured in a May 30 crash in Scott County, according to the Virginia State Police.
Police said that 21-year-old Jason E. Burchfield was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner on state Route 713 around 3:50 p.m. on May 30 whe he ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected, running off the left side of the road. The Toyota then struck a fence, overturned and hit a tree and utility police.
Burchfield was taken to Johnston City Medical Center, where he died on June 4.
A 22-year-old female passenger, a 21-year-old male passenger and a 34-year-old female passenger were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
