Super bowl, cheermania set for Saturday at GW high school

It’s the end of the season and that means Super Bowl and Cheermania time for Wythe County’s rec league football.

George Wythe High School will host the event Saturday, Oct. 23.

Cheermania will begin Saturday morning in the high school gym at 9 a.m. for JV cheering and at 10 a.m. for varsity cheer.

All spectators and participants not actively involved in cheering must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Cheer teams include the Bland County Bears, Wytheville Maroons, Wytheville Maroons silver, Jackson Eagles, Rural Retreat Indians, Max Meadows Vikings and Sheffey Wildcats.

At noon, the JV football championship kicks off with the Jackson Eagles tangling with the Wytheville Maroons Silver. At 2 p.m. the varsity championship gets going with the Wytheville Maroons and Wytheville Maroons Silver mixing it up. The games will be held at the GWHS football field.
