United Way receives Mixed Delivery funding

United Way of Southwest Virginia has been awarded Mixed Delivery program funding to support quality preschool experiences and expand access to early childhood development services for young children. Funding through the Virginia Department of Education was awarded to United Way of Southwest Virginia by the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation.

United Way of Southwest Virginia is working in collaboration with several community partners to provide high-quality year-round, full-day preschool opportunities in local childcare centers in Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, Carroll, Grayson, Washington, and Smyth counties and the cities of Radford and Bristol. The Mixed Delivery program is designed to increase access to publicly funded preschool in private settings in a community.

“This investment in Mixed Delivery is designed to meet the needs of our families who work hard, but still struggle to find affordable early education options”, said Susan Patrick, director of Childhood Success, United Way of Southwest Virginia. “This project allows us to not only support families, but also support communities by continuing to build the infrastructure for a strong early childhood system for Southwest Virginia that includes high-quality early education options that are accessible to all.”
