Virginia High bests Marion

Virginia High rallied for a three-run seventh to break the tie and claim a Southwest District road win on Tuesday, June 1. Marion couldn’t answer in the bottom of the seventh.

The Canes wound up with nine hits and six errors in the loss.

Marion was led by Brody Taylor and Brady Roberts at the plate. Taylor picked up a pair of hits and Roberts knocked in a pair of runs.

Ryan Perkins and Ricky Carroll split time on the hill, with Perkins fanning four over four innings, and Carroll striking out one over three innings of work.

The Lady Canes caught fire in the last half of  a home game against Virginia High, sending the Bearcats back to Bristol nursing a 9-7 loss.

Marion pounded out 11 hits, led by Taylor Preston, who stroked in two runs off a pair of hits. Anna Hagy also had a pair of RBIs. Kaylee Holbrook had a solid game at the plate, too.

Elena Williams tossed a complete game, fanning four Bearcats for the win.
