Virginia Highlands Festival announces music lineup

The Virginia Highlands Festival has announced the music lineup and ticket information for the upcoming 10- day festival, which will be held July 22 – 31, in Abingdon. The live music events will take place at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in the outdoor tent in Abingdon.

Friday, July 22 – 7-10 p.m. – A Tribute to the band Journey, featuring the band Departure, with special guests, From The Edge.  

Departure is in their 14th year together and replicates the look, sound, and feel of the 80’s rock supergroup, Journey. From The Edge, formed in 2016 out of Southwest Virginia, is sure to keep audiences on the dance floor with party rock and roll with a taste of twisted country.

Saturday, July 23, 2022 – 7-9 p.m. – A Tribute to the band, Fleetwood Mac, featuring the band Rumors.

Formed in the Summer of 2012 in Los Angeles, California, Rumours made its debut at the infamous Roxy Theater on Sunset Strip and, within months, would be seen worldwide

on AXS TV’s World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.

Thursday, July 28, 2022 – 7–10 p.m. – A Tribute to Conway Twitty, featuring Thomas Taylor, with special guest, Lily Comer

Taylor has been described as having the ability to find the heart of all the lyrics to Twitty’s songs and put his all back into them like Conway always did. Comer, a talented singer, songwriter, and musician from West Virginia, is the Grand Champion of the 2020 Pigeon Forge Path to Fame Virtual Talent Competition.

Friday, July 29 – 7-9 p.m. – A Tribute to Carolina beach music, featuring Band of Oz. 

Formed in 1967, Band of Oz, one of the most successful groups in the Southeast, continues to get top reviews for their performances. 

Saturday, July 30 – 6-10:30 p.m.  A Tribute to local musicfeaturing Daniel Davis and Simple Rythum, Frank Perry and the Shooter Band and Marques Puckett and the 8 Second Ride.
