Wasp soccer teams pick up wins

 The Emory & Henry College men’s soccer team got its first win of the season, defeating Earlham College (0-3) by a 1-0 score Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Raven/Quaker Classic.

Junior midfielder Ryan Boyette booted in the lone goal in the 15th minute. Goalkeep Derek Akers kept a clean sheet, even as Earlham outshot E&H by a 12-5 margin.

The Emory & Henry College women’s soccer team scored once in both halves as it picked up a 2-0 win over Ferrum College (0-3) Saturday night at home.

The Wasps got on the board late in the 31st minute when junior midfielder Grace Williams  scored an unassisted goal from 30 yards out.
– With 21:45 left to play, E&H made it a 2-0 contest as freshman midfielder Olivia Haynes shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the left-hand side of the box.
– Emory & Henry had its second opportunity to score a penalty in as many contests in the 75th minute, but Haynes’ attempt went just above the crossbar, as the Wasps cruised to the 2-0 win.
