Emory & Henry College freshman swimmer Owen Seymour has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week, league officials announced last week. Seymour is the first-ever E&H swimmer to receive weekly honors from the SAC office.

The Signal Mountain, Tennessee native won both of his individual events and swam on the relay which clinched the 103-97 team win over King University on Thursday. He set a new school record in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of :53.96 and won the 50-meter freestyle in :24.53.

Trailing 93-92, the Wasps had to win the 200-meter freestyle relay to win the meet. Seymour anchored the relay and out-split his King opponent by .12 seconds as the Wasps won the race by 1.29, stopping the watches at 1:42.88.

Emory & Henry will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10 when it visits No. 16 Carson-Newman University for a South Atlantic Conference dual meet.

The Wasp women also scored a win over King with a 118 to 75 score.

The men’s team won six events, setting three new school records while the women’s squad grabbed eight event wins on the night.

The Wasps clinched the meet by winning the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:42.88 on the efforts of Kidd, freshman Caleb Patton, a Marion Senior High graduate.
