“A Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens, is a beloved novella read by many generations during the holiday season. Wytheville Community College’s Theatre Department will perform an adaptation of Dickens’ famous and beloved work in December. “A Christmas Carol,” the play, adapted by Greg Oliver Bodine, is a telling of the classic tale.
Join us at Wytheville Community College in Snyder Auditorium in Grayson Hall on Dec. 8, 9, 13 and 14, at 7 p.m., for this nostalgic production. The setting is December 1847 in a cozy sitting room.
Ebenezer Scrooge and Marley are predictably there, and Charles Dickens himself, begins this take on an old tale. The characters are portrayed by WCC Theatre actor, Roger Dean Grubb. The play is directed by Robert Burnett. Tiny Tim, Bob and Mrs. Cratchit are portrayed, and least we not forget, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future are there to show the classic didactic lesson of the harms of greed at Christmas-time for old Ebenezer Scrooge.
So, don’t be a Scrooge this holiday season and miss out on this witty take of everyone’s favorite holiday play.
All performances begin at 7 p.m. in Snyder Auditorium in Grayson Hall on the WCC Wytheville Campus. Ticket prices are $8 for general admission, $7 for senior citizens and students (any age, any school), and free for WCC students with ID. Tickets will be available at the box office in the Johnson Lobby (adjacent to the Snyder Auditorium), which opens thirty minutes before each performance.
