WCC Recognizes Faculty for Contributions and Service

Wytheville Community College recently recognized faculty members for their contributions and service to the college and the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Awards were presented during a college-wide Zoom meeting at the end of the Spring semester.

Individuals who received awards were nominated by their peers and were then selected by an ad-hoc committee for their respective award. The following WCC faculty members received awards:

Johnathon Ferguson, Machine Technology Instructor – WCC Outstanding Faculty Award

The Outstanding Faculty Award is given to a teaching faculty member who exhibits exemplary performance, dedication, and commitment to Teaching, Institutional Responsibility, Scholarly and Creative Engagement, and Service.

Kristie Haga, Associate Professor of Human Services – WCC Excellence in Teaching Award

The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes a teaching-faculty member who demonstrates exemplary performance, dedication, and commitment to teaching.

Tracy McAfee, Associate Professor of Communications Studies and Theatre – WCC Faculty Service Award

The Faculty Service Award recognizes a teaching-faculty member who gives the College exceptional service, other than teaching, in a manner that is beyond normal expectations and above specific monetary compensation.

Rick Clark, Assistant Professor of Administration of Justice – WCC Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year, and
Marsha Underwood, Assistant Professor or Business Management and Administration – WCC Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year

The Outstanding Faculty Award, funded by the WCC Educational Foundation, is given to a current adjunct teaching faculty members who have made exceptional efforts to improve the quality of instruction to help WCC students succeed.

Each recipient received a plaque and a monetary award, and be recognized on WCC’s official social media accounts.
