Wythe schools give OK to spending plan

Wythe School Board members gave an OK to a 2023 spending plan based on the numbers that were worked up by former Gov. Ralph Northam late last year.

The numbers likely will change when a new budget is approved by the state. The school system is asking the county for the same amount from last year – $13.5 million.

Students will start coming back to school on Aug. 15, with all classes operating at full throttle on Aug. 19.

The Wythe County School Board approved a new calendar that has students back in class in mid-August and the semester ending on Dec. 16.
