Wytheville makes plans for Christmas parade, tree lighting

The Downtown Wytheville Christmas committee has spoken. This year’s grand marshal for the upcoming Christmas parade is front line workers and first responders.

The town encourages front line workers and first responders to sign up to take part in the “A Timeless Christmas” parade at downtownwytheville.org/parade-entry/.

Huff Ford/Bob Huff Chevrolet Buick GMC will assist with rides for any worker or responder unable to walk the length of the parade.

The Wytheville parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 4.

Lineup begins at 5 p.m. at the intersection of 11th and Main streets (at Walgreens and Auto Zone).

East Main from 11th to Withers Lane will be closed at 4 p.m. for set up.

All side streets leading to Main Street will be closed at 4:45 p.m.

The parade will travel west through downtown to Withers Park.

Floats, bands and walkers will turn right onto 4th Street and proceed to Withers for the tree-lighting ceremony, music and activities. Large vehicles, commercial vehicles and emergency vehicles will not turn on to 4th but continue straight on Main.

There will be no parking on Main Street between 1st and 4th streets with downtown parking spots blocked off earlier in the day.
