Lincoln lays out full slate of entertainment for April

The Lincoln Theatre boasts a full catalogue of music, comedy, film, and community engagement events in April 2024.

April 20 & 21: Aaron Tippin | Chapel Hart, Marques Pucket & 8 Second Ride

Aaron Tippin, accompanied by his acoustic trio, is taking to the Lincoln Theatre’s historic stage to kick off a weekend of country music fun. Having released more that 30 singles throughout his career, his voice can be recognized as the culprit behind catchy hits such as “Kiss This” and “I Wouldn’t Have it Any Other Way.”

His talent has been recognized with six gold albums, one platinamun album, an a top-20 spot on Billboard’s all genre Hot 100 chart, which was secured by his now-classic country anthem, “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly.”

On Sunday, April 21, Chapel Hart brings Marques Puckett and 8 Second Ride to Marion to close this country music celebration with flair. The trio began their career signing together in Hart’s Chapel, and have since exploded into national sensations. Fans adore following the group’s journey on the big screen, from being inducted into CMT’s Next Women of Country in 2021, to putting on a golden-buzzer performance for Season 17 of America’s Got Talent and securing a fifth-place finish. In fact, their witty and charming presentation of the original song “You Can Have Him Jolene” prompted a shoutout from the queen of country music herself, Ms.Dolly Parton.

Opening for Chapel Hart is 8 Second Ride, a bold band made up of some of the hottest country artists in our region. April 27: William Lee Martin’s King of Cowtown Tour

William Lee Martin, a multi-talented comedian, is bringing his hilarious “King of Cowtown Tour” to the Lincoln Theatre. Having opened for country music legends like George Straight, Brad Paisley, and George Jones, it comes to no surprise that fans are lining up to book tickets for his latest string of performances across the nation. Backed by a career enriched by colorful experiences, he invites you to join him for the re-telling of his most amusing, ironic, and eye-opening encounters. William Lee Martin is a proud Christian, Texan, and family man who delivers clean but cleverly brazen punchlines.

Film: Golden Oldies, Film Freaks, $5 Friday Flix

Screening the second Tuesday of each month, the Lincoln Theatre’s Golden Oldies series features a free classic film. Swing by the revived movie palace on Tuesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. and take a walk down memory lane. No registration required!

Film Freaks is an all-inclusive, free film event occurring on first Fridays at 7 p.m. This year, Film Freaks returns to the Lincoln Theatre as an exploration of global cinema. Each film features a brief pre-screening lecture and a post-screening group discussion.

This month’s film will take a deep dive into the realm of avant-garde French cinema. Join the group on Friday, April 5 and become a certified film freak!

$5 Friday Flix is another accessible film program offered by the Lincoln Theatre, screening on various dates throughout the year. At a very affordable price, $5 Friday Flix features modern cult classics like Forrest Gump and Titanic. This month, The Godfather returns to the big screen on April 26 at 7 p.m.

Pride Chats

The Lincoln Theatre is proud to serve as a hub for community engagement and inclusivity. On Monday, April 29, Mount Rogers Community Services begins their series of Pride Chats. This gathering aims to foster mutual understanding and respect for all through authentic interactions and relationship building. Join the premiere discussion at 5:30 p.m. and make impactful, lasting connections.
