Bland County might not have lost its crown, but it got banged up a bit thanks to the Auburn Eagles.
Auburn took out Bland 3-0, hanging a 25-23, 26-24, 25-19 loss on the Bears in volleyball.
Elsewhere in the Mountain Empire, George Wythe fell to Giles 3-1. Sydney Leonard led the Maroons with 10 kills and four aces. Hannah Repass supplied 26 assists in the losing effort.
Grayson stung Fort Chiswell 25-11, 25-8 and 25-11. Carli Campbell powered the Blue Devils with six aces and 24 assists while Madey Phipps notched 10 kills, nine digs and 3 aces.
Grayson also beat Floyd 3-0 in a non-district matchup. Campbell had 30 assists in that game while Kinsey Parks knocked down 15 kills. Phipps had eight kills and three aces.
In the Hogoheegee, Chilhowie rolled over Honaker 3-1 thanks to a 16-assist, 13-dig night from Lexi Williams. Madi Preston had nine digs and seven kills and Sophie Adams 12 digs and six kills.
Up the road in Marion, the Canes delivered a resounding knockout blow to Virginia High, besting the Bearcats 25-17, 25-20 and 25-5. Brooke Langston notched 10 kills in the win while Ella Moss had five kills and 11 digs. Aubree Whitt dished out 12 assists and five kills.
Carroll County defeated Glenvar in a 3-2 marathon, clinching the last set 15-10. Madison Lyons had 16 kills in the win and Alyssa Ervin finished with a 22-kill, four-block, eight-dig night. Sarah Alderman had 26 digs.
