Bluffton soccer beats Emory 5-1

The Bluffton University men’s soccer team opened up a 3-0 halftime lead on its way to a 5-1 win over Emory & Henry College on Monday afternoon. It was the Wasps’ third match in as many days as they conclude their trip to the Midwest.

The Beavers got on the board just 65 seconds into the contest on a goal by Elijah Zimmeran, assisted by Jacob Kiger. BU made it 2-0 in the 27th minute as Dalton Taynor found the back of the net. Assists went to Benjamin Davidson and Andrew Ireland on the play.
With 3:24 to go before the intermission, Bluffton extended its lead to 3-0 on a score by Britton Doyle, helped by Brandon DeCoursey.
After the break, the Beavers scored another pair in the span of two minutes to lead, 5-0. Taynor and Zimmerman got their second goals of the match with Angel Velasco-Urbina and Kiger picking up assists, respectively.
– Emory & Henry spoiled the shutout in the 82nd minute when freshman forward Cameron Blalock scored his first collegiate goal for the 5-1 final margin.
