Celebrate Earth Week & Spring Cleaning with Goodwill

Earth Week is a great time to examine personal habits and think about living more sustainably. Even small changes can make a big difference in reducing your environmental footprint. Earth Week is also a great time to spring clean. Did you know your donations from spring cleaning can also help others in your community get a fresh start? When you clear out the items you no longer need and donate them to Goodwill, they are sold to create opportunities for people in your community. Goodwill helps individuals looking to find jobs or advance their careers through programs like GoodStart Reentry and GoodCare Healthcare Training.

You can integrate Goodwill into your plans this Earth Week by spring cleaning. Clean out your closet and other storage areas in your home and donate the things you no longer need to Goodwill. Last year, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys kept over 13 million pounds of materials out of landfills, giving these items a second life. When you shop at Goodwill stores you help to save natural resources needed to make new items. And when you shop at Goodwill, you help support job training and other programs that change lives for the better.

“Embracing earth-friendly activities like donating to and shopping at Goodwill along with simple changes at home can bring new life to our spaces and help preserve our environment,” said Jim Forer, Vice President of Donated Goods at Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. “And Spring is an ideal time for families to declutter their homes. Our Goodwill donation centers are ready to accept your generous donations.”

When you support Goodwill, you are helping people get jobs, advance their careers, and care for their families. At the end of March, Goodwill had already assisted over 10,000 people in 2022.
