Regional Goodwill CEO retiring

Bruce Phipps, outgoing president and CEO for Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, will officially retire on April 16.

Phipps has nearly 18 years of service at Goodwill Industries of the Valleys and 48 years within the Goodwill enterprise. Goodwill established the GoodSupport Fund in honor of Phipps’ dedication to the mission of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys.
The GoodSupport Fund will offer support for those enrolled in Goodwill training and services who experience financial hardships and barriers to success. Barriers can be childcare expenses, utilities, work uniforms, program textbooks, or car expenses. The GoodSupport Fund will ensure those participating can focus on the goal of greater independence.
“I have seen countless individuals and families gain greater independence through hard work and the hand up Goodwill provides,” states Phipps. “I have seen dedicated teams, many of whom I have led, help their neighbors gain in-demand skills to enter the workforce or obtain a better position. I have seen the dignity that comes from earning a paycheck and becoming more self-reliant. This is the mission of Goodwill, and it has been my mission my entire career.”
The work Goodwill does is not possible without donors. From unwanted clothing, household items, books, or hard-earned dollars, donors graciously and selflessly give to help their neighbors gain greater independence. Goodwill wants individuals to be successful and to overcome any obstacles in their way. The GoodSupport Fund will assist individuals with those needs.
