Crash kills Pennsylvania trucker on I-81

An early morning crash on Interstate 81 killed a Pennsylvania truck driver Thursday, according to the Virginia State Police.

A spokesman for the police said Isaac J. Petersheim was killed after the 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer he was driving north on I-81 ran off the right side of the road and struck a 2012 Volvo tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder about a quarter mile south of Exit 70.

Police said Petersheim’s tractor-trailer overturned over the guardrail.

The driver of the Volvo, Edward N. Opoku, 45, of Hammond, Indiana, was not injured in the crash. Opoku was charged with improper stopping on a highway, police said.
