A crash at the confluence of Interstates 77 and 81 left a truck driver dead Tuesday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Wythe County.
The agency said a tractor-trailer traveling north on the I-77 ramp leading to northbound I-81 ran off the left side of the road and into a culvert. The driver, who was male but has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, died at the scene, according to the Virginia State Police.
The 5:52 p.m. crash is under investigation.
