Eastside deals loss to Fort Chiswell

The Pioneer dream came to an abrupt awakening on Friday against the visiting Eastside crew at Carroll County High School.

The Fort ladies left the first quarter down by three, but a 21-13 run in the second quarter and a 23-11 third quarter put the state quarterfinals out of reach as Eastside cruised to a 71-49 victory.

Eastside’s Taylor Clay was the game-changer, plugging in 36 points single-handedly for the Spartans.

Blair Jackson led the Fort Chiswell charge with 18 points. Lindsay Adams tossed in 16, including five three pointers. As a team, the FC bunch drained 10 three-pointers and wrapped up their season with a 20-9 record, including a strong appearance in the state championships.
