Emory senior named to All-ODAC basketball team

Emory & Henry senior Robert Holliday Jr. was named to the 2021 All-ODAC men’s basketball team, officials announced Wednesday.

The All-ODAC teams are selected by the conference’s head coaches.

This year, due to not all teams playing the same number of games, the All-ODAC Team consists of one team of 18 players instead of three six-player teams. The league maintained the “of the Year” designations for Player, Defensive Player, Rookie, Coach and Scholar-Athlete as in previous seasons.
Holliday earns all-conference accolades for the second time in his career after being picked to the 2019 All-North Atlantic Conference Second Team while at SUNY Canton. He averaged a team-best 16.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures in every game he played significant minutes with a season-best 24 points and 15 points against Eastern Mennonite University (Feb. 21). He also put up three double-doubles over the course of the year.
ODAC Champion Randolph-Macon College saw Buzz Anthony became the first three-time Kurt Axe Memorial Player of the Year while Yellow Jacket mentor Josh Merkel grabbed the Bob Johnson ODAC Coach of the Year award for the fourth season in a row.
Washington and Lee University’s Curtis Mitchell was selected as the ODAC Defensive Player of the Year while Justin Kuthan of Roanoke College was named ODAC Rookie of the Year. Kajuan Madden-McAfee of Ferrum College was picked as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete by the league’s sports information directors.
