Former Wytheville man faces arrest in threats

The Wytheville Police Department obtained arrest warrants for a former Wytheville resident in connection with threats made at a town store.

According to the department, Detective Lonnie Anders obtained warrants to arrest 41-year-old Alan Dale Rosenbaum of Charlottesville and formerly of Wytheville.

A bomb threat was made to the Wytheville Walmart on Sunday, Jan. 22, prompting the store to be evacuated.

With customers out of the store, K-9s trained in explosive detection from the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Tech Police Department responded at the request of the Wytheville Police Department. A search failed to turn up any explosives and the store was deemed safe to enter at 11 p.m.

Rosenbaum, who was being sought by Charlottesville Police, is wanted on a felony charge of communicating threats to bomb or burn a building and a misdemeanor charge of threatening an illegal act over the telephone.
