Graduates of Twin County High Schools Eligible for Scholarships at WCC

Thanks to the Twin County Community Foundation, graduates from Carroll County High School, Galax High School and Grayson County High School who enroll in five health programs at Wytheville Community College may be eligible for full tuition scholarships, and those enrolled in other WCC programs may be eligible for 50 percent of tuition scholarship.

The full tuition scholarship program is available to qualified students who enroll in WCC’s Nursing, Practical Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Medical Laboratory Technology programs.

“I am able to achieve my dream profession because the [TCCF] scholarship has made college less financially stressful,” says Sara Hall, a Physical Therapist Assistant student from Carroll County.

Students who in enroll in other credit programs at WCC are eligible for 50% tuition scholarships. The scholarships are “last dollar,” meaning that they will cover 50% of tuition and fees not covered by other types of financial aid.

Riley Halsey, a General Studies student from Grayson County, works part time and notes that the scholarship helps make WCC even more affordable.

The scholarship program does not cover the cost of textbooks or other educational expenses.

To be eligible, students must be high school graduates and must have resided in Carroll or Grayson counties or the City of Galax for at least the last two years. They must also have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average in high school.

Students interested in health programs must complete the selective admission process that includes taking required placement tests and TEAS testing in addition to WCC’s regular admissions application. Information about the selective admissions process can be found at www.wcc.vccs.edu/health-professions. Additionally, students must complete a scholarship application form that is available online at www.wcc.vccs.edu/scholarships to apply for the scholarship.
