Indian runners compete at Abingdon track meet

Rural Retreat runners competed in the Jan. 4 in the Brown Dental Polar Bear at the Abingdon High School track.

Rural Retreat’s Gunner Hagerman finished fifth in the 55-meter dash, stopping the clock at 7.17. Hunter Vaught, also of Rural Retreat, took 13th with a time of 7.46, and Nicolai Brinegar of Rural Retreat finished in 8.29, earning 20th.

In the boys 300 meters, Hagerman earned third with a time of 39.50. Owen Chatterton of Rural Retreat finished in 44.08 to take 14th. In 19th, Brinegar stopped the watches at 47.74. Cody Harrington clocked in at 49.46 to claim 21st.

Micah Hamman of Rural Retreat finished second in the 500-meter run, stopping the clock at 1:19.99. Trey Ward finished in ninth with a time of 1:32.04.

The Rural Retreat boys finished first in the 4 x 200 meter relay with a 1:42.82 time. The 4 x 400 team finished second with a 5:19.82 race.

Austin Umberger took first for Rural Retreat in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 4 inches.

Hagerman was eighth in the long jump, clearing 16 feet, 7.75 inches. Ward finished in 10th with a 15-foot, 7.25-inch jump.

In the shot put, Scott Merideth finished seventh with a 32-foot toss.

Grace Houseman took 15th in the girls 55-meter dash, with a time of 9.24. Fellow Indian runner Lydia Brewer finished in 9.27 for 16th. Tiffany Anderson was 18th with a time of 9.64.

Makayla Anderson was seventh for Rural Retreat in the 300-meter dash, clocking in at 51.29. Brewer’s 55.90 earned her 13th, and Houseman finished in 1:01.96 to claim 18th. Anderson clocked in at 1:02.78 for 19th place.

Anderson earned first in the 55-meter hurdles, snatching gold with a 10.37 run.

Rural Retreat took second in the 4 x 400 relay, clocking in at 4:33.34.

Anderson was 10th in the long jump, hitting 11 feet, 10 inches, and Houseman was 12th with a 10-foot, 3-inch leap. Anderson finished ninth in the triple jump, clearing 24 feet, 11 inches.

The Rural Retreat boys finished fourth with 49 points, and the girls took sixth with 21 points.
