Jackson piles up the stats for Fort Chiswell

Fort Chiswell on Jan. 6 whipped Galax 56-47 in a Mountain Empire District contest, three days after the Pioneers had fallen to the always powerful Auburn Eagles 90-60.

The FC girls hung a 48-42 loss on the Maroon Tide on Jan. 6.

Sophomore Blair Jackson led the Pioneers with 19 points, five rebound and six steals. Kara King had six rebounds and eight points for the Pioneers to go along with five steals.

Fort Chiswell took down the visiting Eagles 62-46.

Once again, Jackson was a force to be reckoned with, piling in 27 points for the Pioneer crew. Sadie Robinson chipped in nine points. Robinson stroked all nine points from three-point range.

Sophomore Kara King stuffed her sheet with six points and 12 rebounds on the night.

In other basketball news, Marion’s girls bested visiting George Wythe 56-48.

Rural Retreat’s boys on Jan. 6 fell to Hogoheegee foe Patrick Henry 63-54. On Jan. 4, the Indians handed a 54-42 non-district loss to Galax.

The Indian girls on Jan. 6 stung the Rebels 26-18. on Jan. 14, Rural Retreat clobbered Galax 45-16.
