Wayne and Sarah Kirby are banking on sports being big business in Wythe County.
The couple on Monday announced that they’d opened a new facility at 3967 Chapman Road between Interstate 81’s Exit 80 and Exit 77.
The Wythe County Sports Complex offers an indoor, climate-controlled practice space for multiple sports, including baseball, softball, soccer, football, wrestling and more.
Wayne Kirby has long though that there needed to be an indoor facility where athletes in the county can keep in shape and practice during the winter months and off-season. The facility comes complete with batting cages, pithing areas, wrestling mats, soccer goals and more.
“I am so proud that he took a huge leap of faith on something that he wanted to accomplish and he put in the hard work and countless hours to achieve it,” Sarah Kirby said.
The couple has two young boys who play several different sports.
The complex is also open to teams looking for a climate-controlled area to practice and to athletes looking for private lessons or to attend camps.
