Lebanon man charged after police chase in Smyth

Smyth deputies tried to stop a Chevrolet Blazer with improper license plates at the Marion Burger King on Monday at 11 p.m., launching a pursuit south on Interstate 81 that reached speeds up to 100 mph.

Deputies with the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office, aided by Washington County deputies, eventually halted the Blazer.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Christopher John Tiller of Lebanon was taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center and later charged with reckless driving, eluding police, driving on a revoked license, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of Schedule I or II drug and possession with intent to distribute.
