Marion radio personality dies at 66

Radio personality Jim Mabe, who spent most of career hosting the More Music Morning Show on Marion’s FM 94, died April 19 at 66 in Abingdon.

Mabe, who worked in radio for more than 30 years, had battled cancer.

A member of the Fort Chiswell High School Class of 1973, Mabe was born April 30, 1955, and played in many local bands, making a name for himself as a musician as a teenager.

Mabe is survived by his wife of 32 years, Annette Mabe; daughters Kaci Willis and husband, Jon, of Beaufort, South Carolina, Stacey Burton and Jesse Blevins of Roanoke, and Jenny Mabe of Roanoke; grandchildren Caleb, Jaden, Noah, Laine, Avery, Archer and Gunner; brother, Gerald Mabe and wife, Kathy; brothers-in-law, Troy Humphreys, and Curtis Humphreys and wife, Lisa; and sister, Bonnie Lindamood.
